So far in our blogs we've talked about Rhassoul Clay, and Dead Sea Mineral Mud, but did you know there is more muddy stuff to discuss?? Who knew that mud was so useful in getting clean...
I'm talking about Kaolin Clay, an ingredient in our Shampoo Bars as well as our Magnolia Peach, Honeysuckle, Raspberry Lemonade, Créme Brulée, Patchouli, Snowcrest Lager, Tobacco Flower, Blue Spruce, and Geranium Rose Bar Soaps!
Kaolin Clay is a naturally occurring clay substance, found in soils in hot, moist climates - picture a tropical rainforest.
Oh, you need help picturing a tropical rainforest?
There are many benefits of Kaolin Clay. It is soothing, detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, and more... but it is especially useful when you have sensitive/dry skin, because it does not pull oil as extremely as other clays.
There are a few different colors of Kaolin Clay that have a slight variation in effect. (Our soaps mostly use Red or Pink Clay).
White - the gentlest variety of clay, best for sensitive skin because it doesn't absorb oil and leave the face dry. It does have gentle exfoliating properties.
Yellow - slightly more absorbent and exfoliating that white, but is still gentle enough for sensitive skin. The yellow clay is more circulation boosting, so it is often used in brightening masks.
Red - has the most absorptive properties and it therefore the best for oilier skin. It is often used in acne/detoxifying masks.
Pink - essentially a mixture of the white and red kaolin clays, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin who also desire a bit of oil-vacuuming and gentle exfoliation.
There you have it! It's important to know what you are putting on your skin, (it absorbs it everything), so keep an eye on our blog and check out our previous blog posts for more insider information on our Gourmet Products! And, as always, you can visit us in stores and online anytime!
See you soon!
